Loren Campbell Field Undergoes Massive Renovation

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

by Steven Pinckney

The long time home for Hawks baseball field Loren Campbell Memorial will be getting some plastic surgery this off-season that will drastically improve the playing surface. The field will be completely re-surfaced and leveled, correcting a long time flaw in the field. The work to the field is being done by Maggio Construction and is expected to be completed by 2012′s home opener in March. Among the many improvments will be a new surface for both the infield and outfield, new bullpens, fencing and a new warning track that will surround the field. New sod is expected to be laid out as early as mid September. The improvements will give baseball a beatiful new home to play its games that will be an asset for the entire New Paltz Community. The Hawks are set to play their first game on the new field on March 30, 2012 when they host Brockport State.

Hawks Preparing for Fall Season

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

After finishing last season 12 -24, the SUNY New Paltz baseball team is looking forward to getting started this fall. The Hawks enter the fall returning most of its roster from last year to which the coaching staff has added nine new players. As a coaching staff, we are excited to get started. There will be competition this fall, and we believe we are building the depth required to be successful in the SUNYAC. We have two special dates this fall where you can get the chance to preview the 2010 team. The first is Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM when Vassar visits Loren Campbell Field for their annual fall scrimmage.
The second date is Saturday, September 26, 2009 for the annual Alumni Game. This is a very special day for our program as we welcome back our former players. We are fortunate to have a strong group of alumni who make a special effort to attend this game, and last year was nothing short of fantastic as we fielded TWO alumni teams. We look forward to seeing you on campus again this year. The day will start with an alumni home run derby contest beginning at 10 AM. At 1:00 PM, the alumni will have the opportunity to test their skills against the 2010 Hawks. This is a great day where the Hawks of yester-year have the opportunity to meet, and support, the Hawks of today. So bring the family, play some baseball, and enjoy a cookout at the field. We look forward to seeing you on September 26th.
