Our Resident Hawk…

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

This morning I noticed a true sign of spring, as one of our resident hawks was sitting outside of the Elting Gym doors.  He won the battle over a poor squirrel who didn’t have a chance, and let me get very close to him while he was on the ground. Soon there were other curious students stopping and snapping up photos on their cell phones.

Our mascot eventually flew off and perched himself in a nearby pine…….

Go Hawks!!!

New Paltz Softball Ready for Action

Monday, March 9th, 2009

The New Paltz Softball Team is ready for the 2009 season to start.  After spending the last 6 weeks preparing for our season this group is eager to get outside on the diamond. We’ve had a great pre-season and are looking forward to playing against some tough competition. The team will kick of the campaign at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida this upcoming weekend with our first games on Sunday, March 15th.   We’ll play 12 games on the southern trip against other Division III schools from around the country:  Illinois College, Albright (PA), Macalester (MN), Richard Stockton (NJ), Roger Williams (RI), Bowdoin (ME), Western New England College (MA), Salem State (MA), St Lawrence (NY), Plymouth State (NH), and Wisconsin-Superior.

With a mix of experienced juniors, seasoned sophomores and a strong freshman class I am looking forward to a very successful season and cannot wait to get started!  We’ll be blogging from Florida with updates on our progress as well as some fun tidbits about the trip.
