Learn to Swim Program

April 12-23, 2010

Elting Gym on Campus

The New Paltz men’s and women’s varsity swimming programs will once again offer our learn to swim program this April 12-23, 2010.  This program is designed to give personal instruction to kids, ages 4-14, in the New Paltz community looking to either learn basic skills or enhance their swimming background as we approach the summer.  All ability levels are welcome!

This is an 8-session program running Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from April 12-23.  Kids can select a 35 minute timeslot at either 4:00, 4:40, or 5:20.  They will be paired with an instructor who will work with them for 2 weeks to build swimming skills.  All sessions of the program will be run at the Elting pool on campus.  Cost of the program is $80.  All proceeds will benefit the men’s and women’s varsity swimming programs.

A flier is attached with the information.  You can register either by filling out the mail-in application or in person by Tuesday, April 6th.

Season’s best swims

Senior Steve Cozzolongo helped the men’s swimming team finish third at the SUNYAC Championships in the three day tournament held at Erie Community College pool.

Cozzolongo won two races, the 100 Yard Backstroke and the 100 Yard Butterfly.  He was also part of the relay teams to finish second in the 400 Yard Medley relay and third in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay.

Week of 2/1:  Becky Baker

Junior swimmer Becky Baker and her team hosted Stevens this past week.  Baker set a pool record earning the victory in the 100 Yard Breaststroke; she also finished third in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Baker continued her strong meet being apart of the relay team that won the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
