Senior Night/Dig Pink

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Tomorrow night, October 14, NPVB will honor 5 wonderful seniors- Stephanie Bova, Brittany Coyle, Ali Kiernan, Kelcey Noble, and Priska Wilson- at their final regular season home match at 7:00pm.  We will also be hosting a Dig Pink event, which is an event to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer research.  Fans will be able to donate to this important cause during the match.  All donations will go directly to the Side-Out Foundation.

Bova, Britt, Ali, Kelcey, & Priska have had outstanding careers at New Paltz and are a big reason for the success of NPVB.  We appreciate all they do and all they bring to our team.  We hope to honor them with a win tomorrow, and more home matches to play in during the post-season!

Brittany Coyle

Congratulations to Brittany Coyle, our senior middle hitter, for surpassing 1000 career kills last weekend during SUNYAC Pool Play.  Yet another honor for a fantastic player and person.  Let’s hope there’s many more to come!

Women’s Volleyball To Date…

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

The Women’s Volleyball team is off to a strong start in 2009.  After opening the season with a 2-2 showing at defending National Champion Emory University’s opening tournament, the team played to a 2-2 finish at the very strong Nazareth Tournament.  Since then, we’ve won 5 in a row, defeating Sage College before sweeping our annual Hawks Invite with a 4-0 record, including great wins over Johns Hopkins University and Johnson & Wales College.  This is the 6th consecutive Hawks Invite tournament championship for us.  Stephanie Skrobach was selected to the All-Tournament team, and Brittany Coyle was named tournament MVP!

This week is another big week for us, as we travel to cross river rival Vassar College tonight, who is currently 8-0 and playing very well.  Then on Friday, we travel to Oneonta for our first Conference pool play weekend of the season.  If we keep playing well and continue to get strong contributions from all 16 players, this can be a great week!

Brittany Coyle Selected as 2008 Most Valuable Player

Junior middle hitter Brittany Coyle (Middletown/Minisink Valley) was named the 2008 most valuable player as she helped lead the team to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and a trip to the Elite Eight. New Paltz ended their season with a 32-10 record, the highest win total in the history of the volleyball program. Coyle led the Hawks with 375 kills and 118 blocks on the season. She earned first team all-conference honors, was selected to the SUNYAC and Regional All-Tournament teams, and garnered NCAA New York Region honorable mention. Coyle led the conference and was 17th Nationally in hitting percentage (.369).

WVB Spring Season Wrapup

Friday, March 6th, 2009

We finished our spring season last weekend with an upper vs. underclassmen scrimmage.  The upperclassmen came out with a 3-0 victory in some hard fought action.  Our spring season was a great success.  Everyone worked hard and improved at different aspects of their games, and are anxiously awaiting the 2009 season!  Up next is our annual alumni game on March 28.  So far, 12 alums will be joining us for some good volleyball, a great dinner, and lots of laughs.  We’re looking forward to it!

NPVB Receives Banner!

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Saturday, February 7 was a great day in the history of NPVB.  At halftime of the Women’s Basketball game, we were honored for our run through NCAA’s this past season.  President Poskanzer and Stuart Robinson were there to present us with a Regional Championship banner that now hangs in Hawks Center!  It was a great feeling for all of us to be recognized one more time for the great season we had in 2008.  Thanks to all for your support!
